New homes are now being designed with minimal dimensions.  Higher prices and fewer people living in the home are causing this change in design.

1. Move Rarely used Items Out of the Kitchen.

Would you like your small kitchen to be more spacious looking and functional?  Most people’s kitchens are filled with items that are rarely used.  These can be food processors, dinnerware or glassware used only for special occasions.  But in a small kitchen, it makes no sense to fill your limited space with items you don’t use daily.

Many people only see kitchen cabinets as storage space and miss the storage opportunities on the walls.  For example, you can take utensils and pans out of the cabinet and hang them with hooks, you can use a magnetic knife holder.  You can add open shelves to hold spice jars, bowls, and glasses.  This not only frees up space in your cabinets but will credit ease in using these items.

When decorating narrow and small kitchens, you can make furniture, home appliances or light wall colors.  In this way, your kitchen will appear more spacious and larger than it is.

5. Use Modern Colors.

You can have a modern color as your accent color.  You will need fewer items will be able to draw people’s eyes up or away from a small space if used correctly.
